Good afternoon, dear readers of the blog site, today I want to tell you how to configure autoload programs in minimized form when loading Windows 10, Windows 8.1, so that programs automatically start minimized when loading Windows 8.1 and thus do not interfere, appearing on top of the desktop. In this example, we will work with the Outlook program.

We right-click on the shortcut of the program that you want to automatically start at system boot, then select "Copy".

On the keyboard, press the key combination "Win" and "R", then enter

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

and click on the “OK” button. Please note, if you want the program to automatically start for all users, then you must enter “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp”.

Right-click on an empty space in the folder and select "Paste".

Now the specified program will automatically start when the system boots, and the program window will appear on top of the Windows 8.1 desktop. This is not very convenient, so we will make the program start minimized.

Select the desired file and right-click on it, then select "Properties".

It happens that when installing a new program, due to an oversight, you did not disable the option to start at system startup. Or you just decided that from now on you will use the previously necessary software less often. There is only one result - now you need to remove the program from the so-called "autorun" of Windows.

Startup (autorun) contains a list of programs that automatically start working from the moment the operating system starts. Many of them are necessary for the correct operation of Windows. Some of them you may not even know exist. But it happens that autoload is clogged with unnecessary programs, the removal of which will help your computer boot much faster. Below are several ways in which this can be done.

Through the built-in msconfig system utility

To run it, just follow a few simple steps: in the "Start" select "Run" and enter the command "msconfig" (without quotes) in the window that opens, click "OK".

The "System Configuration" window will open, in which you need to find the "Startup" tab. By going to it, in the column called "Startup Items" you can see a list of all the programs that your system starts automatically. If you want to cancel this action, just uncheck the box next to the unnecessary program. But you should be careful: if this or that name just seems suspicious to you, then this is not a reason to remove the program - perhaps this is an application necessary for the system. Cancel autorun only those programs in which you are one hundred percent sure.

After making the necessary amendments and clicking "OK", you will be prompted to reboot the PC - this is necessary for the changes to take effect.

This method can be called the safest, because if you suddenly change your mind or realize that you have removed something necessary from autorun, you just need to go back and check the box next to the program name.

Through the registry

To access the registry, we still turn to "Start" and, choosing "Run", enter the command "regedit" without quotes. For Windows 7, enter the command in the Start search form or simply press the Win + R key combination. Click OK.

Now you see the registry editor in front of you. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. In the destination folder, you will see all the programs contained in startup, as well as their location on the computer. To remove an extra parameter, right-click on it and select "Delete".

Use this method only if others do not exactly suit you, because changes made to the registry in this way are irreversible.

Through the folder "Startup"

You may be able to get by with a "little blood" using this method. Go the following way: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Startup". In this folder you will see shortcuts to programs that start at system startup. If there is one among them that you would like to get rid of, just remove its label.

There is another way to access this folder: select the drive on which your operating system is installed (usually drive C) and follow the path: Documents and Settings\ All Users\Main Menu\Programs\Startup.

By the way, knowing about the existence of this folder, you can, if necessary, easily perform the opposite action - add to startup a program that you would like to continue to run with Windows.

Using third party utilities

If you have no desire to delve into the intricacies of the PC or you just feel not confident enough to make any changes manually, there is always ready-made software at your service. You can easily find many utilities like, for example, OSAM (Online Solutions Autorun Manager) or Autoruns. They have a convenient and intuitive interface, many are Russified. With the help of such software, even a user who has sat down at a computer for the first time will be able to disable autorun programs in Windows.
